Purpose
The UPR Mentoring Institute for HIV and Mental Health Research's (MI-HMHR) primary purpose is to create a stimulating academic environment that will encourage graduate students and junior faculty to pursue careers in clinical, behavioral and prevention research, particularly when the focus of that research is HIV/AIDS and mental health.
Innovation
The MI-HMHR secures innovation through its strategies for the development of investigators and through the research pursuits of these investigators. The creation of spaces to develop research skills among investigators and mentors, the documentation of the mentoring model and the research issues explored within existing research enterprises, and the preparation in research networks are four significant and distinctive areas of innovation.
